Aakash Odedra

Rising

Rising is a solo performance by Aakash Odedra. Individual works have been specially choreographed for him by artists Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Akram Khan, and the evening opens with a classical kathak variation which Aakash has choreographed himself. Each piece uses Aakash’s background in kathak and bharatanatyam to create a new flavour of contemporary dance, complemented with lighting by Michael Hulls and Willy Cessa.

Dartington Tagore Festival 2013

A festival inspired by Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel Prize-winner whose passions for the arts, education and ecology shaped the Dartington of today.

Performances will include Soumik Datta and Flux, Aakash Odedra Company. Speakers to include Satish Kumar and John Tusa. Plus many more artists, workshops and events, including new Bollywood cinema.

Rising

One of the emerging stars of the dance world, Aakash Odedra performs three solos created for him by choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan.
 
Aakash Odedra is widely known as an accomplished Kathak dancer and a rising young star of British dance. He has trained with acclaimed dancers Chitraleka Bolar and Nilima Devi in the UK and Asha Joglekar and Chhaya Kanvateh in India.
 
Aakash spent 2011 working with acclaimed choreographers Akram Khan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Russell Maliphant.
