Srishti is an independent South Asian dance organisation run by Nina Rajarani MBE. Resident company at Harrow Arts Centre, Srishti encompasses Nina Rajarani Dance School, Yuva Culture touring youth group, Srishti Skills educational outreach plus Srishti Nina Rajarani Dance Creations - a professional bharatanatyam touring company.
Dancer, choreographer and teacher, Nina Rajarani trained in bharatanatyam under Prakash Yadagudde at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London, alongside training in Chennai under Shanta and VP Dhananjayan. As a performer, Nina has toured extensively in the UK and internationally. In 2006 Nina won the Place Prize, Europe’s largest choreographic competition, for her work Quick! which went on to tour nationally and internationally in 2007 – 2008 as part of subsequent works Quiet, Please! and Play Ball.
Current secretary for the South Asian Faculty of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), Nina has been instrumental in the development of the ISTD’s bharatanatyam syllabus for graded examinations. In the Queen’s 2009 Birthday Honours, Nina Rajarani was awarded Member of the British Empire for her services to South Asian dance.
