About Pulse

Dedicated to Asian dance and music. Keeping the arts communities informed, connected and energised. Highlighting hot spots of creativity and cutting-edge practise, making these ancient art forms ever relevant and refreshed.

The quarterly magazine Pulse and the website www.pulseconnects.com is published and managed by Kadam, a UK based charity which aims to keep  Asian dance and music relevant and refreshed for today’s audiences.

Kadam Asian Dance and Music based in Bedfordshire has been in existence since 1995 with the aim of promoting these art forms through training, performances and supporting the creation of new work.

Kadam took over the publication of the national UK magazine for South Asian dance from Aditi in 2001 and has been publishing ever since.

From 2002- 2007 Pulse was under the editorship of Chitra Sundaram. In June 2008 Pulse was re-launched with Sanjeevini Dutta as editor. There have been 29 issues of Pulse published to date and we hope to make these available in the ARCHIVES of the website in the next six months.

Kadam acknowledges the Arts Council of England East for the support received since 1995. The funding for Pulse ceases at the end of March 2011.

Pulse is no longer in receipt of subsidy and henceforth will rely on subscriptions or donations from artists, organisations and enthusiasts to keep it running.
