The Bollywood Punjeet & Judy-gee Show

For children ages 5+ Three and a half centuries after Samuel Pepys recorded for posterity his visit to an Italian puppet play in Covent Garden, multiculturalism has spawned a re- imagining of the Great British tradition of Punch and Judy. Professor Patel presents The Bollywood style Punjeet & Judy-gee, which follows the travails of Punjeet, whose antiquated views on courtship, marriage, children and society are challenged by the audience and a host of colourful characters such as Judy-gee, his long suffering wife and Dr Singh.

Dui Desher Golpo

This exhibition, created collaboratively by THEWHATWORKS and Jagonari Women’s Centre, contains 50 short films telling the individual stories of 50 Bangladeshi women and their migration to London.  Alongside the films will be exhibited elements of folk culture that are significant to them and their lives – from songs and poems to embroidery and other crafts. The centrepiece of the exhibition will be a saree that the 50 women have embroidered with images that represent stories of their homeland and their journeys to the UK.

A centenary celebration of Tagore's little book of poems that brought him the Nobel Prize in 1913. Renowned actress Sharmila Tagore (grandniece of Rabindranath Tagore) guests in this unique audio-visual show with readings, music, dance and film. Featuring Soumik Datta, Idris Rahman and others.

Debdas

Debdas is a new and contemporary adaptation of the frequently dramatized and filmed 1917 Bengali novel by Sharat Chandra Chattopdhyay. The original story is derived from the Hindu myths of the triangular tangles of romance between the divine Krishna and his loves Radha and Meera.
