Sonia is amongst the brightest and most inspirational of British born dancers, working hard to preserve and propagate the beautiful form of Kathak internationally.  She combines the rich traditions of classical North Indian Kathak with a contemporary approach, reflecting an appreciation of Indian and British culture.

KALAKUNJ, the dynamic performing arts group based in Reading celebrates its fifth annual dance and music festival "Samarpanam: an offering" to the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India with exemplary performances highlighting the classical tradition. "Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwara Gurur Sakshat Param Brahma Tasmai Shree Guru Veh Namah" (We bow down to the trinity of Hindu Gods: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the "Guru" or the teacher who is the embodiment of ultimate knowledge).

Misrana 2012

A stunning showcase featuring students of the Kathak and Bharatanatyam dance forms. These highly skilled students have trained rigorously, having gone through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing system.

The ISTD, founded in 1904, is one of the world's leading dance examination boards and boasts an impressive spectrum of dance, from Ballet and Bharatanatyam to Ballroom. This special performance features students who have been selected through an audition process.
