Alchemy festival, Southbank Centre’s 11-day celebration of South Asian culture returns for a third year in 2012. The 2011 festival featured free workshops in kite making, yoga, martial arts and Bhangra, free street performances and a food market, as well as performances from Talvin Singh, Meera Syal, Raghu Dixit and Kailash Kher. The 2012 festival will be a similar mix of performances, food, debates, music, dance and storytelling.

Amaas

Amaas is a collaboration between Aakash Odedra Company, Combust and Desi Masti. A fusion of contemporary dance, South Asian dance and circus, with fire eating, stilts and more, Amaas will dazzle. 
 
A new moon phases. Released from her iridescent shroud she is free to dance and play. Freedom is a precious thing when time is short but tempted by night’s mysterious characters, a sky with no moon could spell disaster for us all.  When the shadows are at play then temptations may have their way. The new day hangs in the balance.
