Reflecting on Choreographic Processes in South Asian Dance 

A day of practical workshops, interactive discussion & expert advice open to all dance artists with an interest in creating their own work.

Creativity Unlocked 2011 is the culmination of Kadam’s Unlocking Creativity summer schools which have run over the past three years offering South Asian dance artists a way to develop choreographic skills in a supportive environment with inspiring advice from talented and well respected choreographers, dancers and musicians from a range of artistic backgrounds.

Core tutors from the past three courses Eva Recacha and Hari Krishnan return to lead insightful exercises to hone creative decision making.

Eva Recacha: contemporary choreographer and 2011 Place Prize Finalist, Eva Recacha performs with Frauke Requardt & Comapany and teaches Composition & Movement Analysis at London Contemporary Dance School.

Hari Krishnan: Toronto based classical & experimental choreographer, bharatanatyam dancer and dance scholar, Hari Krishnan is Artistic Director of touring company inDANCE and lectures at Wesleyan University in Connecticut USA.

The day will conclude with a sharing of work in progress by past participants of Unlocking Creativity, plus other up and coming South Asian choreographers. If you are interested in including your work in this sharing, please email: sanjeevini@pulseconnects.com.

Venue: Hat Factory Arts Centre, 65-67 Bute Street, Luton LU1 2EY

(The venue is a 3 minute walk from Luton Train Station with journey time of 34min to London St Pancras and 60min to Leicester.)

Course fee: £65  (£55 if booked before 05/08/2011) Including lunch and evening meal

Work-in-progress sharing is open to the public and free to attend.
