Jahnavi Harrison was raised in an environment full of kirtan from birth. Growing up in the Hare Krishna community outside London, life was infused with sacred dance and music. She began studying Western classical violin as a child, whilst simultaneously being exposed to a variety of styles, from Irish to Klezmer.
She gained a BA Hons in English Language and Creative Writing last year. She has studied Bharatanatyam for over a decade, for the last six years with Srishti - Nina Rajarani dance school and has been active in both school shows, ISTD exams as well as Srishti Yuva Culture, the company's youth dance troupe. She has a keen interest in Carnatic vocal and violin, and has pursued this with Y Yadavan and AGA Gnanasundaram respectively.
Since graduation she has worked with Mantralogy - a new record label for sacred music and events, and travelled all over the world with As Kindred Spirits. The group travel extensively in the US and to a lesser degree in South Africa, Australia and Europe, with a show that presents a dynamic combination of storytelling, kirtan, traditional dance, poetry and philosophy, all linked by the common thread of bhakti - love and devotion for the Divine.
